Can’t Get Satisfaction of Eating?

Active ImageI think the biggest irony for those of us who have struggled with life-long weight issues is that rather than being hedonists addicted to the pleasure of eating, many of us in fact have lost the capacity to savor and enjoy food to its fullest. I think that you can remember that yours most extreme eating episodes have generally taken place in secret, unobserved, quickly, and with a combined sense of both pleasure and shame. For example, it can happens that you have eaten an entire half-gallon of ice cream in one sitting (or, more than once), but, truly, you had never done that by scooping the stuff into a beautiful ceramic bowl and getting out a nice spoon and linen napkin while seated at the dining room table. More like standing barefoot in the kitchen with a plastic spoon scooping the stuff down while the lights were off, hoping no one would ‘catch’ you.

 

 

Active ImageEven when you’re eating healthy foods in appropriate amounts, you have difficulty saying that you’re getting a lot of pleasure out of it. May be it happens because of long working hours, when you often find yourself eating dinner in a rush, just barreling through it, anxious, tense and unfocused. Or for another, you simply haven’t spent much time planning the opportunity to sit and savor food without any distractions. At work you take your breaks at the desk and at home you often eat while reading or watching TV. All of this leads to the fact, that you’re depriving yourself of one of the most basic aspects of eating – the sheer physical and mental pleasure of it. Funny especially if you are focused on weight loss and maintenance.

There is one very interesting thing in that case. People, who love to eat at great restaurants, which often go out to eat, are usually really slim! And they get the great pleasure while their meal!

You can do it the same! Smell your food firstly, feel this great scent! Eat slowly, feel the taste. And it’s not important to go out, you can do it at home easily. The main is here –your wish to make some kind of ceremony of your meals. Try to do it once and you can’t stop doing that everyday!
