These are 4 of the most common teeth disorders that are plaguing the USA and how you and your dentist can work to fix them.

Ice cream is one of your favorite deserts but you find lately, that whenever you eat it, it makes your teeth ache badly.

This could indicate a case of tooth sensitivity which is only one of the most common teeth disorders in the world. Fortunately, in terms of this particular disorder, your dentist can diagnose you and prescribe something for it. Not everyone gets that lucky unless their particular issue is caught on time.

To help you stay on top of your oral health, here are a few common teeth disorders and how you or your dentist can fix them.

1. Tooth Decay

Tooth decay or as you may know it as cavities is probably the most common out of all the tooth problems. It happens when plaque combines with the sugars and starches that you consume throughout the day. This combination of things creates an acid that wears at your enamel.

The best way to avoid cavities is by eating healthy snacks that don't have a lot of sugar. Stay away from sodas and other sugary beverages as well.

2. Tooth Sensitivity

If you have tooth sensitivity then it will be hard for you to eat any foods that are too cold or too hot without feeling some sort of pain. If your problem is too bad you may even feel discomfort when you're brushing and flossing as well.

When this issue starts it's important that you go talk to your dentist. They will be able to determine the cause and prescribe something to treat it.

3. Teeth Grinding

Chances are, if you're grinding your teeth you don't even realize you're doing it. This is because the vast number of people who grind their teeth do it in their sleep. Anxiety other stress disorders can also be a cause.

While occasionally grinding your teeth won't do too much damage, if it carries on for too long it can lead to oral issues. The only real way to combat this disorder is for your dentist to prescribe you a teeth grinding mouth guard that you can wear when you sleep.

4. Toothache

Toothaches are annoying but aren't too big a deal unless there is swelling around the problem tooth. Swelling could be the sign of something more serious such as an abscess.

Until you can see your dentist, take over the counter pain medications and rinse with warm water to control the pain.
