Fallen Leaves: The Smell of Autumn
Written by Emily
Tuesday, 14 October 2008

"A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air."

~ Eric Sloane

Autumn Leaves
Lyrics by Johnny Mercer

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

What smells are there in autumn? I have a mental mind blank, all I can think of is 'damp'

the smell of autumn is dry fragrant leaves and apple pie. its pumpkin aromas and earth. its the musky warmth of the stiff, stale air. you can almost smell what you see the warm lemony yellow leaves, the sweet peachy fiery leaves that make the trees blaze.
