Friday, 08 February 2008 | ||||
Do you feel the beat? Does your body start to move and you are already in the rhythm? The dancing is like a magic act when you and music become one whole. You are falling in love with the energy, grace and power of dancing. Cha Cha! Swing! Rumba! Hustle! Hot classic! Or beautiful and sexy East belly dances? Or the hottest Brazilian Samba and Capoeira? Powerful, fluid and sensuous Latin! And what about modern rhythmic break dance and hip-hop? Just these words make my body willing to dance. But why are we so enchanted with dances? What is the secret of their magic? And what is the origin of this rhythm addiction?
"Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It's the rhythm of your life. It’s the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy." Jacques D'Amboise Let’s define what is dance. Dance generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting. Dance is also used to describe methods of non-verbal communication between humans or animals (such as a mating dance), motion in inanimate objects (the leaves danced in the wind), and certain musical forms or genres. George Bernard Shaw
One of the earliest structured uses of dance may have been in the performance and telling of myths. Before the introduction of written languages, dance was one of the methods of passing these stories down from generation to generation. "To dance takes strength, artistry and passion. You can express any emotion possible in the most beautiful form, if you're willing to take the first step." Anonymous Nowadays the dance became a real art! There are competitions, performances and amazing shows. We enjoy watching great beautiful dances. And we dance! Because dance is also a great form of exercise allowing you to be as energetic as you like. Some estimate social levels of dancing to burn 100-400 calories/hr, while competitive dancers burn 600 calories per hour. Two to three hours of continuous social dancing can give you an excellent low-impact aerobic workout. Dancing is also a fun and healthy for recovering surgery & heart patients. If you are to dance, it would require and give you good posture, which helps you breathe better, walk better and look and feel younger! Finally, dancing is one of the few activities men and women can enjoy together. Dancing as a form of exercise does not necessarily require you to be a professional dancer. Dancing is really a fun way to enjoy an exercise. You might as well try it!
Agnes de Mille Now there are a lot of studios where you can go for dancing. But when choosing a studio, answer few questions that will help you to determine what you need. What is the most important element in your dancing? It may be for fun, for staying fit or for getting some professional skills. What is the monthly total you are ready to spend? Do you really need dancing? Ensure that you understand why you enjoy dancing or at least why you want to dance. Only you know the true reason - but as long as you know - this will help you in deciding where to attend. And be sure that you enjoy that. Maybe you will be satisfied with club dances on Saturday nights:) It’s up to you!
