"If I Were a Boy" is a song by Beyoncé Knowles. It was written by Britney Carlson and Toby Gad; and co-produced by Gad and Knowles for her third solo album, "I Am… Sasha Fierce" (2008). Alongside (double A-side single) "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", the song was released as the album's leading single to U.S. radios on October 8, 2008, with a CD single to be released on November 11, 2008.


2. "Womanizer" Britney Spears

is a song performed by Britney Spears. The song was recorded for her forthcoming sixth studio album, Circus. "Womanizer" was produced and co-written by Nikesha Briscoe and Rapheal Akinyemi of Atlanta-based production team, The Outsyders. Announced as the lead single from the album, "Womanizer" was first released to radio stations worldwide on September 26, 2008. On October 15, 2008, the song made a record-breaking jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 breaking the record set by jumping from ninety-six instead of T.I.'s "Live Your Life" which jumped from number eighty to number one the week before.


3. "So What" Pink

"So What" is a song written by Pink, Max Martin and Shellback and released as the first single from Pink's forthcoming fifth studio album Funhouse. “So What" was performed by Pink at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, on September 7, 2008, and is being used to promote the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. On the weeks ending of September 26, 2008, Pink scored her first solo number-one hit in her native USA. It has also reached #1 in several countries, including a large part of the Anglophonic world.

"Hot N Cold" is the second single from Katy Perry's album, One of the Boys. The song has reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Katy Perry's second top 5 single, after her previous hit single "I Kissed a Girl". Blender Magazine calls the track a “spunky, climate-controlled kiss-off,” and Entertainment Weekly agrees, “It’s damn fun.” Wellheart Music Journal calls the song 'a step up' and having a 'swift punch and dominant, biting' lyrics'.


5. "Live Your Life" T.I. Feat. Rihanna

"Live Your Life" is a song by T.I. off his sixth album Paper Trail. The song features Barbadian R&B-pop singer Rihanna and was produced by Just Blaze and Canei Finch. It was released as the second single from the album. It officially premiered at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards during T.I.'s performance. This is T.I's third Billboard Hot 100 number one single in the United States (after "My Love" with Justin Timberlake and his previous single "Whatever You Like") and Rihanna's fifth on the same chart. On October 15, 2008, the song was added to BBC Radio 1's B List.


6. "Single Ladies" Beyonce

"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" is a song by American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles, written and produced by Christopher Stewart, Terius Nash, Kuk Harrell and Knowles for her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008). Alongside "If I Were a Boy", the song was released to U.S. radio stations on October 8, 2008. The single peaked at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Knowles' fifth number-one single.


7. "Disturbia" Rihanna

"Disturbia" is a dance-pop song written by Andre Merritt, Chris Brown, and Robert Allen for the re-release of Rihanna's third album, Good Girl Gone Bad Reloaded, and is the second single from the album, following "Take a Bow". The song was produced by Brian Kennedy with background vocals by Brown and Merritt. It was featured in a Circuit City commercial. On September 7, 2008, she opened the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards with a live performance of the song. On June 26, 2008, "Disturbia" debuted at number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Rihanna's highest debut on the chart to date, as well as her sixth top twenty from Good Girl Gone Bad. The next week, the song rose to the eleventh position, but experienced a drop to fifteen the week after, staying there for two additional weeks. However, the next week after the release of the video and a massive increase in sales and radio, the song jumped to number four, making Rihanna the sixth female singer (Madonna, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Mariah Carey and Ashanti being the other five) to have two songs in the top five concurrently, as her previous single, "Take a Bow", was at number two that same week.


8. "Just Dance" Lady Gaga and Colby O'Donis

"Just Dance" is a dance-pop song and lead single from Lady GaGa's first album, The Fame. The song is written by Lady GaGa and features Colby O'Donis, who is signed to the same label as Lady GaGa, and Akon, who provides backing vocals through Colby's verse and shortly afterwards. The track is produced by RedOne (most known for working with Akon, MJ, and Kat DeLuna). The song started gaining radio airplay in both the U.K. and the U.S. at the end of October 2008 and the video was released to U.K. music channels near the end of November, 2008 . However, it will be released as a download January 5, 2009 and released as a CD January 12, 2009. The song has so far reached #1 in Australia, Canada and #5 in U.S. The song has been nominated for a 2009 Grammy in the Best Dance Recording category.


9. "Right Now" Akon

"Right Now (Na Na Na)" is the first single from Akon's third studio album Freedom. The song samples The Underdog Project's "Remember." It went for adds on U.S. Mainstream Top 40 radio on September 23, 2008, and also became available for digital download on iTunes that day. A freestyle was made by rapper Young Dro called "Still Sellin".


10. "Viva La Vida" Coldplay

"Viva la Vida" is a song by English alternative rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The lyrics to the song contain historical and religious references, and the track is built around a repeating string section with a percussion background. The song was released on 7 May 2008 as the album's second single, debuting to critical and commercial success. Critics have complimented the song for its music and lyrics. "Viva la Vida" has reached the top spot of the UK Singles Chart and Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band's first number-one single. It is well-downloaded in the internet, becoming iTunes' second best-selling song of 2008.
