The most famous love stories in history

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone."

Wednesday, 28 August 2019

Credit cards are everywhere. Many of us have more than one. We take a look at some of the biggest credit card companies out there and what they offer.

In 2017, there were almost 365 million credit card accounts open in the United States.

Credit cards are everywhere. Many of us have more than one.

But have you ever thought about who owns them? Where are they coming from? Here we'll take a look at some of the biggest credit card companies out there and what they offer.

1. Visa

Visa is one of the largest credit card companies in the country, but it can also be used across the globe. Visa is one of the most widely accepted credit cards.

However, while it sponsors credit cards, it doesn't directly issue its cards. Instead, it will pay banks and other issuers to use their brand.

For example, Chase is one card that actually uses the Visa brand with their Chase Freedom Unlimted Card.

This card comes with lots of perks, like earning 3% cashback on purchases for the first year of having the card open. After that, users can get 1.5% cashback.

2. Mastercard

Like Mastercard, Visa also doesn't directly issue credit cards. Rather, they have banks and other issuers lend them out.

However, Mastercard is still the second-largest network out there and is also able to be used globally.

Mastercard used to be known as Interbank. It was created as a response to BankAmericard.

One popular card you may recognize from Mastercard is the HSBC Gold Mastercard.

This card has a competitive APR and offers 0% APR for the first eighteen months that your account is open.

There are no annual fees with this card as well.

3. American Express

American Express is one of the world's biggest credit card issuer when it comes to transactions. There are billions of transactions using American Express each year.

American Express is known for approving credit cards for people who have higher incomes and outstanding credit scores.

They have different kinds of cards to choose from as well.

They have the American Express Platinum Card® which will give you five times your reward points.

If you fly a lot, you may want to consider getting the Gold Delta SkyMiles® credit card. This does have an annual fee of $95 after the first year, but the perks make up for it if you are an avid traveler.

4. Capital One

Capital One is a credit card provider that will try and issue you a card whether you have a good or bad credit score. When you get a credit card through Capital One, you will also have access to view your free credit score. They have excellent customer service and have millions of users as well.

There are many different Capital One credit cards, but one of their most popular ones is the Capital One Venture Rewards card.

If you travel a lot, this may be the card for you. When you sign up, you will earn 50,000 miles if you spend $3,000 in the first three months of having your card open.

You will also be able to earn two times the miles for every purchase that you make. Currently, there is no limit to how many miles you can earn, and as long as your account is still open, they won't expire.

5. Citibank

Citibank has about 48 million cardholders. This bank actually dates back to 1812, when it was the City Bank of New York. While they don't have many credit card users as the other companies, they are strongly dedicated to their rewards programs.

At Citibank, they have two types of rewards: Simplicity and Thank you.

This bank has also partnered with many businesses to offer you some of the best deals through their reward programs.

6. Discover

This bank began as a piece of Dean Witter but in 2007, it became its own company. Discover has about 57 million card users, and they were one of the first companies to actually come up with a cashback rewards program.

You can either get cash back for your purchases, or you can cash in on travel offers. It's like the best of both worlds.

In addition to all of this, they have a great program to help detect fraud on your account, so you can make sure that your financials are protected.

7. Bank of America

Bank of America is also one of the older banks, and it began in 1904. This bank was originally called the Bank of Italy because it mostly served the immigrants coming to America.

However, the bank was renamed in 1930 to work on becoming the bank you recognize today.

Their great customer service online helps to make it easy to manage your credit cards through them, like the Bank of America Cash Rewards Card.

8. Chase

Chase is another popular credit card company in the United States.

This is one of the bigger companies because they offer rewards through Southwest and Disney.

Their Chase Freedom Unlimited Card offers great perks, like a low APR and no annual fee. You will also earn an unlimited 1.5% on all purchases after your first year is up.

9. US Bank

Finally, US Bank has been working on helping first-time credit card users to build up their credit. This is great for students, small business, and a lot of the population who want to get a credit card.

There are many different cards to choose from, like the FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature Card, the Visa Platinum Card, and the Business Edge Platinum card.
