Using Astrology to Reshape Your Business |
Tuesday, 09 February 2021 | |
When Millennials are getting acquainted with one another, you'll often find them sharing their zodiac signs. Even a general knowledge of astrology can tell you a lot about a person. Before you write off this practice as a waste of time, you might want to stop and think, because Millennials could be onto something useful. Astrology has been around for thousands of years and is still alive and well today. How could something survive that long if there wasn't at least some truth to it? Millennials often share their birthdates and signs, because it helps others identify traits that they see as useful and may give others a preview of what to expect from them. You may want to consider using astrology to reshape your business, because understanding personality traits can help you build a stronger team.
![]() Call a meeting of the stars. As part of your weekly check-in, take time to do an exercise that involves astrology. Have each team member identify their Zodiac symbol using their birthday, and have them write down the different traits associated with their signs. For example, a few of the Capricorn traits include highly dependable, rational, and persistent. Make sure you also have them list some of the areas of improvement associated with each sign. Capricorns can be great in the workplace, but it's important to look out for when they're exhibiting signs of poor work/life balance. They're also known to be sarcastic and maybe a little arrogant. It's not a judgment, it's just something to be aware of. Have your co-workers circle the traits that are associated with their sign that they personally identify with.
As an experiment, find out which signs are most compatible. For example, a Virgo and a Libra would be able to work together and find compromise easily on projects. Pair up the most compatible people. You may be surprised by how much hard work gets done and how complimentary thinking can end up being innovative.
Create a system to help you measure improvement.Once you've identified your new teams, you need a way to track their progress by giving them tangible goals. You can do this using OKR software. OKR stands for objectives and key results. It's a way to define goals and measure how your employees are performing.
Each team member can take a look at their progress towards achieving certain key results which can be measured using the OKR framework. When it comes to goal setting, it's important that your employees' individual goals match up with your organizational goals. The best OKR software helps you clearly define those goals and helps everyone across the entire organization track progress as they work to achieve their individual or team goals. With your complimentary star signs working towards a common goal, your team should be unstoppable.
Be cognizant of employees on the cusp.If during this experiment, you have an employee who doesn't feel like they're identifying with their star sign, check to see if they're on the cusp. All you need to do is take into account their actual birthdate. If your employee was born at the end of the month, they're right on the cusp, meaning they will most likely exhibit characteristics of both the sign of the month they were born in and the sign of the month after. Depending on which sign they more closely associate with, try to pair them up with a team of complementary people. This may take some trial and error to find the perfect spot for your cusp employees, but hopefully, you'll eventually reap the rewards of both signs embodied in one person.
