How CBD Can Help You Achieve Wellness

People have started touting the major health benefits of CBD, short for Cannabidiol, since the legalization of hemp in every state. Legalizing hemp was a complicated decision at first, but unlike marijuana, it won’t get users high. That’s because it comes from a different plant altogether and is meant to provide healing and wellness for people ailing from disease or simple discomforts.

A lot of CBD users claim they’ve found a better life because of these products, but for us to truly measure the impact on Americans’ health, we’re waiting for additional valid medical studies. However, anecdotally, it seems that something as simple as a CBD tincture taken orally every day has helped alleviate symptoms and problems for people of all ages and walks of life.

Benefits of CBD

Inside the bodies of mammals, including us humans, you’ll find the endocannabinoid system. This special system regulates normal bodily functions, like our immune systems, appetites, sleep, and more. Your body even naturally produces endocannabinoids, the very stuff in CBD, which stick to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. When you add more cannabinoids to your system by supplementing with CBD, these neurotransmitters also bind to those receptors and can have a positive impact on your nervous system. Ultimately, your nervous system influences much of your body’s functions.

Pain, which your body’s nervous system interprets, is one of the issues that CBD can help relieve. It naturally reduces inflammation, which is a main source of pain in the human body. Because of CBD’s reaction in your nervous system, it makes sense that CBD may relieve certain symptoms of neurological disorders that affect the brain, such as epilepsy.

Pain is more than skin deep, but one way to get CBD directly to your pain point is by using a premium CBD lotion. Your skin absorbs the CBD lotion and your body processes the endocannabinoids as normal. The lotion can help provide direct relief when you need it, especially for skin pain, joint pain, or sore muscles.

The side effects of chemotherapy and symptoms of cancer can be debilitating and often requires numerous heavy pharmaceuticals to help people cope. Nausea and vomiting are two of the most common side effects from chemotherapy. CBD has been shown to ease both of these symptoms better than prescription nausea medication from oncologists.

Stress often leads to insomnia and high blood pressure, both of which usually require prescription drugs from a medical doctor to manage. Certain formulations of CBD can help you fall asleep, which relieves stress by calming the mind and making you feel more relaxed. Similarly, hypertension can be directly related to stress, and a regular CBD regimen might help lower blood pressure in a similar manner to how it helps with insomnia.

There are plenty of other medical benefits to taking CBD; ask around in your disease’s support group, your friend group, or a reputable CBD retailer to learn how it may help you, too.

A Word on CBD Potency

Each CBD product you encounter for sale will list its concentration on the packaging. Concentration refers to the strength of CBD contained within the product. CBD manufacturers measure concentration in milligrams (mg). The higher the concentration, the more powerful the CBD product will be.

If you’re new to CBD, a very important fact that you should consider is that full-spectrum CBD products, especially those you consume orally, include low or trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, up to 0.3 percent. That’s the psychoactive chemical in marijuana that causes a user to feel high. However, the THC in CBD products is in such a scant amount that it won’t cause that high feeling.

When it comes to dosage, or the amount of CBD you take every day, your CBD product may offer you some guidance on its label. Dosage is based on the concentration, your body weight, how well your body responds to CBD, and the results you’re looking for from the product. You may need to experiment to find the best dosage for you, and consult with your doctor before starting a CBD regimen. Although CBD is considered safe, it’s always a good idea to let your medical provider know you’re considering incorporating it into your wellness routine.

If you’ve started taking CBD to improve your overall health and wellness, or to help manage an existing condition, how have you benefited?
