Monday, 10 August 2020

Thanks to Covid-19, working from home has become very common in 2020. But while working from home often sounds like a dream come true, it presents some unique challenges. When you work from home, it is important that you give yourself breaks and that you use them wisely. Here are 5 break activities that can make your home working experience more manageable.

Exercise and Get in Shape

Being stuck at home working doesn't mean that you can't get a good dose of exercise every day. There is a plethora of exercises that you can do with no equipment at all, and if you're willing to make a minor investment then you can easily acquire some basic home gym equipment.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to dedicate hours at a time to your workouts in order for them to be worthwhile. Engaging in short bursts of activity throughout the day will improve your physical fitness and, over time, will also improve your physique.

Not only will your physical health benefit, but exercise is good for your emotional health as well. It is a fantastic way of blowing off steam if you are having a stressful day.

Fire Up a Videogame

One of the main benefits of working from home is that you will be surrounded by all your stuff throughout the day. That means that when you have time for a break, you won’t be restricted to whatever is in your breakroom. If you have access to a games console, then there is a whole world of great videogames to play on your downtime.

Diving into a long narrative-driven epic might not be the best idea, as these are games that you need to dedicate serious time to. However, there are plenty of roguelike games, which are perfect for playing in short bursts. Similarly, open world games where you can find a side quest, mission, or activity to do before returning to work are great for resetting your mind.

Blow Off Steam at an Online Casino

If you want to add an element of excitement to your gaming experience, then an online casino could be just the thrill you are looking for. If you are an experienced gambler, then you will find digital equivalents of all your favorite games available online. For example, if you like classic casino games then there are plenty of online poker sites you can try, as well as general online casinos that offer games like blackjack and roulette.

However, if you are looking for something a little more quickfire, then playing slots online with a casino like Unikrn. Unikrn are a great choice because they offer round-the-clock live chat support and allow you to withdraw your finds within 24 hours. Unikrn also has a user-friendly lobby that makes it nice and simple to find the games that interest you.

Cook Yourself Some Brain Food

Cooking is an excellent skill to have, no matter who you are. Not only do you get to enjoy the fruits of your own labors, but there are few traits considered as universally desirable as being a proficient cook. Learning to cook is also considerably easier than most people realize - just start simple and develop your skills as you go.

Learning to cook doesn’t just mean preparing entire meals, either. There are plenty of snacks and small meals that you can learn to prepare that will not only satisfy your hunger but ensure that your brain and body have the fuel that they need to be able to function at maximum efficiency. If you are hungry or dehydrated, then your work performance is inevitably going to suffer and you won’t be nearly as productive as you are capable of being.

Try Meditation

If you are someone who regularly finds themselves stressing out over their job, then taking regular breaks is a good idea. Learning to practice meditation during your downtime can enable you to manage your stress levels much more effectively. In fact, there is a whole host of benefits to meditation and mindfulness that make it a worthwhile endeavor for any of us.

If you are put off meditation because of its religious and spiritual connotations then don’t worry, there is plenty of good hard science backing up the efficacy of meditation as a way of gaining more control over your mind and your emotions. In the long-term, regular meditation can reduce stress and depression improve your mood, and enable you to better maintain your focus.

These are just some ideas on how you can spend your downtime when you are working from home. When you work from home, it can be hard to maintain a healthy work-life balance and it can be tempting to spend your entire day working without taking a proper break. Needless to say, this is bad for your health and hard to sustain for very long. Above all else, make sure that you aren’t letting your work take over your entire life.
