Thursday, 16 January 2020

Men and women of all ages, races, and hair types suffer from hair loss and thinning hair. It can even be quite a traumatic experience for some. This is why there are dozens of DIY remedies available. Some of which can be a little crazier than others and results can vary widely. Every head of hair is a world of its own and what works for one person may be completely different from what works for another.

From scalp massages to a thickening hair mask, there is bound to be at least one natural treatment that could help you on your quest for luscious locks.

Causes of Thinning Hair

Before jumping in the deep end, it is best to understand the problem. There are a multitude of reasons that hair can become lifeless and limp or start to fall out.

The most common of these reasons is age. As we get older, our hair, like other parts of our bodies, also age and lose the vitality they once had. There are different ways that we can experience hair thinning too. Natural aging cannot be reversed, but there is a whole industry dedicated to slowing down the appearance and symptoms of aging, including hair thinning.

Another very common cause of thinning hair is genetics. Unfortunately, for some, it is simply a part of their genetic makeup and quite inevitable that they will suffer from a gradual thinning of their hair.

Some illnesses can also cause hair loss, as can allergic reactions to certain substances. This can be a shock for some and often results in larger patches of hair falling out as opposed to hair thinning.

Other reasons that a person may experience hair thinning can be due to stress or a hormonal change in the body. This can happen to women during pregnancy for example.

Additionally, a deficiency in certain vitamins or poor nutrition can lead to problems with hair thickness. A lack of copper, manganese or vitamin D can cause problems with hair growth.

Finally, the overuse of commercial hair products can also have negative effects on your locks.

Natural Remedies to Thicken Hair

Unluckily enough and thanks to these many causes, thinning hair is widespread. However, luckily, there are various natural ways to promote the thickening of hair. Check out this list to find a method that works for you.

Firstly, many people are fond of thickening hair mask products that are available commercially or can be made using everyday household items. These natural treatments include masks that should be applied to the scalp and damp hair, left for anywhere between 30-60 minutes, and then rinsed out. The various ingredients offer different benefits not limited to simply building thicker hair. Some include nutrients that are essential for healthy, strong hair, while others improve luster or relieve a dry scalp. Usually, these treatments should be applied only once or twice a week to enhance healthy hair. The following are the main ingredients considered for natural hair masks:
  • Eggs
  • Olive oil
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Rosemary oil
  • Onion juice
  • Orange puree
  • Aloe gel/cream
  • Avocado
  • Castor oil
Another natural remedy that is widely suggested is to add one to two servings of certain foods into your diet. These foods generally contain healthy fats, proteins, and a range of vitamins which can boost hair growth. These include salmon, eggs, walnuts, almonds, greek yogurt, and green, black, or pinto beans.

There is currently little research into natural remedies for hair thickening but there are also few risks involved. This is demonstrated by the experience of many who swear by some of these treatments. Moreover, experts have been able to show how many of the key ingredients do have the right components and nutrients to help establish hair growth.
