Learn About Sleeping Positions Know Which One to Use
Wednesday, 18 April 2018

How you sleep at night actually has a major impact on the quality of your sleep and your overall health. The way you sleep can make your nights comfortable and allow you to wake up active. Studies have confirmed that almost 75% people are side sleepers; however, the ideal sleeping position is debated at different levels.

Some people like to sleep on their right or left side, some sleep on their back, while there are also a few who like to sleep on their stomach. Each type of sleeping position has its own pros and cons and if you want to know which the best one is, it is important to learn about sleeping positions. In this article, we will offer you a sleeping position guide and discuss each sleeping position in detail to give you a better idea as to which one you should choose.

Side Sleeping Position

Sleeping on the side is one of the best sleeping positions that you can use. It has a lot of positive effects on your body. You may find a lot of people who would suggest you to sleep on your left side but it is not the right position. Your heart is placed on your left side and if you sleep in this position, all your body weight will be over your heart which will disrupt the flow of blood to all parts of your body. However, if you sleep on your right sleep, the internal organs will be able to function properly and the flow of blood will also improve. Moreover, sleeping on the side will also help in improving the alignment of your spinal cord. Just find a properly stuffed pillow to support your neck and head.

Sleeping on Stomach

There is also a majority of people who like to sleep on their stomach. It is the worst position to sleep in; however, the only positive thing which can be taken out of this sleeping position is that it helps in snoring. Sleeping on the stomach comes with a plethora of negative side effects including a bent spinal cord, pain in the muscles, and neck pain too. The reason why the spinal cord bends is that there is a natural curve in the back and when the back is not rested, it bends more.

Sleeping on the Back

If we talk about the perfect sleeping position, it is none other than sleeping on the back. Research suggests only 8 percent people sleep on their back. This sleeping position provides a lot of benefits to your health and helps in providing a comfortable sleep as well. Some of the health benefits that you can enjoy include better digestion, better neck position, and improved shape of the spinal cord. However, if you have a snoring problem, this position will not help in rectifying this problem but increase it. The breathing will be blocked and cause more snoring. Other than that, it is the ideal sleep position that you should use.

Train your body to sleep in the right position and start your journey towards a healthier life.
