Is An Online Life Coach Worth It?

About.a year ago I realized that my life was completely a mess and that I needed to do something about it. I was in an unhealthy relationship with a guy who did not appreciate me; had gained over twenty pounds; and was on the brink of depression. One day as I was brushing my teeth and looking at myself in the mirror, I knew that if I did not start making some changes sooner or later, I could hit a point of no return.

As I was having coffee with a friend of mind, she mentioned online coaching and how it really helped to change her life for the better. One of the things she really liked about it was that it was very convenient because she could meet with her coach on a regular basis from her home or office and that she was no longer subjugated to having to get in her car and drive across town to meet in an office. But coaching can be quite expensive costing upwards of $200 an hour or $2500 every three months. Is it really worth it?

The short answer is yes and no because it really depends on what you put into it. When I began meeting with my online life coach I just didn’t put too much into our sessions as I could have. My mind was always racing and I would have other things going on in the background so I just didn’t get much from it. But after spending over $1000 on the coaching services, I knew I had a choice to make: Either take this more seriously or accept the fact that my life was going to be a waste.

With the reality of turning forty years old beginning to loom over my head, I decided to buckle down like I did in college and really try and turn my life around. And I must say, I am so glad I did because in the next three months here is what I accomplished:

1. I got rid of my boyfriend in a nice way (i.e. we don’t hate each other)

2. I lost eight pounds and changed my eating habits drastically

3. I began looking for a new job and have a few potential offers lined up that pay me more money

4. I have more meaningful relationships with some of my friends and got rid of a few that were becoming toxic.

While I still have a lot more that I want to work on, I must say that having an online life coach really does make a difference because it forced me to examine my life on a weekly basis rather than just letting each day blur into the next without really giving it much thought. Having that me time is what I really needed so that I could get honest with myself about who I am and what I want to get out of life.
