7 Christmas Traditions You Should Do This Year
Monday, 23 November 2020

It’s fair to say 2020 has been tough. But if you’re keen to embrace the Christmas spirit and enjoy some good times this festive season, then you’re in the right place. Here, we explore seven fun and fabulous Christmas traditions that everyone should do to feel festive!

1. Put up Christmas decorations at home

What better way to get in the festive spirit than decorating your home with bright and bold Christmas decorations? Of course, the main focus should be on putting up a beautiful Christmas tree, decorated with twinkling lights and beautiful baubles. You could also pop a garland around your banister or mantlepiece, and put a festive wreath on your front door!

2. Enjoy your favourite festive treats

This year more than ever, we deserve to indulge in our favourite festive treats. Whether that’s a box of chocolates, a cheeseboard or a booze-soaked fruit cake, make sure your cupboards are stocked up ready for the Christmas season.

3. Indulge in a Christmas movie marathon

Do you have a few Christmas films that you watch every year without fail? Then escape from reality for a few hours by popping them on the TV. You could enjoy a weekend movie marathon or watch one film per night in the run up to Christmas to get in the spirit.

4. Catch up with friends and family

While this year may be a little different and you may not be able to visit all your loved ones in person, that doesn’t mean you can’t catch up! Arrange a few video calls with your nearest and dearest – you could play a few games like charades or Pictionary, or simply catch up over a glass of mulled wine.

5. Make decorations with your loved ones

Whether you need to keep the kids entertained, or you want to do something fun with your housemates, why not enjoy getting crafty? You could set up a craft station at your dining table and spend some time together making decorations. From paper snowflakes decorated with glitter, to making your own Christmas cards – there’s plenty of ideas to explore!

6. Count down to the big day

If you want to get excited in the lead up to Christmas day, then you could count down with a themed advent calendar. There’s a huge variety of different options available, including beauty, home fragrance, food and of course chocolate filled calendars. So whatever you’re into, you’re sure to find one filled with items you love!

7. Dance and sing to Christmas songs

If you’re putting up the tree, baking some treats or even cleaning the house – put on a Christmas playlist and it’s sure to boost your mood! Whether you play the Christmas classics or modern versions sung by your favourite artists, having a dance and sing-along will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit.

Which of these traditions will you enjoy this year?
