Which Luxury Watch Brands Are The Best Choice for Women?
Thursday, 01 April 2021

Time is money.

And it’s probably the most valuable asset. That’s precisely the thinking of the biggest watch brands which pour massive resources into installing the same view amongst the general public.

Whether it’s through well-prepared marketing campaigns, the hosting of celebrity-packed splendid parties or hiring well-known faces as brand ambassadors, the best in the industry for sure know how to make us want to wear their timepiece.

Everyone and their mother know that Rolex is the most sought-after watch brand amongst men. And for a good reason, too: these are excellent-crafted timepieces that can be passed on from generation to generation.

But what are the most desired watchmakers when it comes to women?

"Traditionally, men’s watches have been marketed more heavily than women’s," David Hurley, executive vice president of Watches of Switzerland, once said.

That might be the reason why we haven’t really heard or talked much about the most-loved watch brands amongst the female community.

And trust me on this one, there are some equally-spectacular watch choices for women.

If you’re currently on the lookout for a luxury timepiece for your wrist, you might want to continue reading. Below you will find three popular women’s watch brands with the much-debated “luxury” status.

1. Cartier

According to the more experienced female watch enthusiasts, this is the closest a women’s watch can get to Rolex in terms of the level of craftsmanship and luxurious design.

The French watchmaker has been around since 1847, making it one of the oldest hands in the whole watchmaking industry. Over the three centuries, it has gained reputation as the #1 destination for luxury watches amongst females.

On top of women’s wristwatches, Cartier also has a men-exclusive line - although sales-wise it’s nowhere near as popular. The brand also specializes in fragrance and jewelry.

The biggest trademark of Cartier watches for women is the rectangular shape of cases. Depending on your budget, you can pick from Entry-Level Cartier timepieces like the Tank Solo or go for diamond-adorned watches from collections like Tank Francaise.

2. Rolex

If there is one watch brand that probably everyone has heard of, it’s Rolex. Pity not many of us can afford it!

Since the day it was founded in 1905, the London-based watchmaker has grown into pretty much the #1 brand in the whole industry.
Although Rolex is popular predominantly amongst men wearers, some of the collections turn out to possess an equally strong appeal for women.

Keep in mind, though, that Rolex women’s models are, in most cases, much more expensive than the abovementioned Cartier. If your budget isn’t an issue, then you are likely to find many interesting choices.

The diamond-decorated Lady-Datejust line in particular is a favorite. These watches are made from 18kt yellow gold and oftentimes include mother-of-pearl dials.

If you're a fan of slightly bigger cases, the Pearlmaster 39 collection is definitely worth peeking at. It's also made from 18kt gold and has a diamond-paved dial and bezel.

3. Versace

Versace is another name that most of us know about. But how many of you were aware of the fact the Italian fashion mogul also designs beautiful wristwatches for women?

Although not on the same level of workmanship as the two brands mentioned above, Versace watches possess luxury look and are a much, much smaller expenditure.

The history of Versace watches isn't anywhere near as long as that of Rolex and Cartier. The first Versace wristwatch saw daylight in 1998 through the influence of Donatella Versace - shortly after she took over the role of the company’s Creative Director To this day, the woman is the face of the company and designs a large chunk of watches herself.

Design-wise, it’s hard to imagine a much different approach to the two luxury moguls we discussed above. Versace watches boast a rather futuristic and adventurous design. The dials oftentimes are decorated with diamonds or Swarovski crystals.

Watch collections that are definitely worth checking out are Versace V-Signature, Versace Leda and Versace Vanity.

Other Popular Luxury Watch Brands for Women

In my opinion, based on first-hand experience, the three brands listed above are excellent luxury choices that cater to different budgets.

Nevertheless, there are more watchmakers that surely deserve your attention. If the style offered by Cartier, Rolex or Versace isn’t your cup of tea, you can explore additional watch brands mentioned in this article.

If you have your own experiences with any of the brands or you have your own favorite, please - feel free to share. Let’s interact!
